The trek to Annapurna Base camp ( Annapurna Sanctuary) also popularly known as Annapurna Sanctuary, is perhaps one of the most beautiful in the world. This is one of the major trekking route in Nepal The combination of easy walking and majestic scenery makes it a trekkers paradise. Starting from Pokhara, Drive to Nayapul and gain elevation gradually through Ghandrung and Chhomrong. Then follow the ModiKhola valley through thick bamboo and rhododendron forests to the Annapurna Base camp at 4130 m.

The trek to Annapurna base camp combines some of the most spectacular Himalayan scenery with a fascinating insight into the life of middle hill Nepalese. Spend at least one full day inside the sanctuary, side trips across the south Annapurna glacier, north Annapurna base camp allow for an even better appreciation of this unique place. Anytime.

Regarded as one of the most popular treks, it takes you through charismatic villages, rich oak, pine and rhododendron forests and grants you fabulous views of the giant snow-peaks- Annapurna I (8019m), Annapurna III (7555m), Gangapurna (7454m) and Machhapuchchhre (6999m). The Kaligandaki Gorge, the deepest gorge in the world, and Tilicho Lake, the highest lake at 4,919 m, are also located in this area. The trek to the Annapurna Sanctuary traverses a variety of terrain, from lowland villages and rice terraces to glaciers, and offers outstanding high mountain views’but the trekkers must beware of snowfall and avalanches that can block the narrow entrance to the sanctuary.

El trek al Annapurna Base Camp además conocido popularmente como Santuario Annapurna, es quizás uno de los más hermosos en el mundo. Además es una de las principales rutas de trekking en Nepal. La combinación de caminata fácil y la majestuosidad de los paisajes hacen de esta ruta un verdadero paraíso para los trekkers. El trek del Annapurna Base Camp combina algunas de las más espectaculares vistas del Himalaya con una fascinante muestra de la vida que llevan las comunidades de la zona media de Nepal. Es así como en la ruta se pueden tener fabulosas vistas de los picos nevados del Annapurna I (8.019 mts), Annapurna III (7.555 mts), Gangapurna (7.454 mts) y Machhapuchhre (6.999 mts). El cañón de Kaligandaki, el más profundo cañón del mundo y el lago Tilicho, el lago más alto del mundo a 4.919 metros también están ubicados en esta zona.

Day 01 Arrival in Kathmandu
Arrival in Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, a representative from Matterhorn Treks & Expedition will transfer to your hotel, we will brief you about your trip activities. You’ll have rest of the day as leisure.

Day 02 Kathmandu Sightseeing
Sightseeing in some of landmarks that are the World Heritage Sites of Kathmandu Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of (PashupatiNath), the famous ‘Monkey Temple’ (SwayambhuNath) and Buddhists shrine (BouddhaNath). You can also make your last minute buying of personal items and preparation for the next day.

Day 03 Fly to Pokhara
After breakfast, we will drive to the airport for a flight to Pokhara, 25 mins. The flight to Pokhara is spectacular with Himalayan view all along its route. You can enjoy the ambiance in the natural setting with impending Himalayas in a distance. Walk along the Phewa Lake or go boating in the evening.

Day 04 Pokhara – TirkheDhunga (1491 m)
After breakfast approx we drive to Nayapul (42 km), 1 hr by Car via large village of Lumle and walk about 20 minutes to Birethanti, a large and prosperous town. The trail follows the main street of Birethanti, going through bamboo forests and past a large waterfall and swimming hole. Beyond a pasture used by pony caravans, the trail reaches Sudami where you have Lunch. After lunch climb steadily up the side of the valley , reaching Hile at 1495 m near by Tirekhedhunga. Along the way, various hamlets offer ample camping possibilities but if Ghorepani is the objective for the next day it is better to push on to TikheDhunga.

Day 05 TirkheDhunga – Ghorepani (2855 m) 
Trek from Tirkhedhunga the trail crosses a stream on a suspension bridge near the camp site at Tirkhedhunga. The trail ascends a steep stone staircase to the large Magar village Ulleri at 2070 m. Above the village where the trail climbs gently through pastures and cultivated fields. There are magnificent more pleasantly through rhododendron and oak forest. There is a hut with water and a small camp site about 1 hr above Ulleri. The trail crosses two sparkling clear two streams before making a short, final climb to Nangethanti. Your lunch spot in Nangethanti.Thanti is a Nepali words meaning “rest house” also known as  “Dharmasala”. In the winter the trail can be covered with snow. From Nangethanti about one hours trek, climb to Ghorepani at 2850 m.

Day 06 Ghorepani – Poon hill – Tadapani
Being of the early morning 5:00 AM wake up and start to you journey climb to Poon Hill (3195 m) around 45 min. to provides better unobstructed views and sunrise over the high Himalayas. You can see a lots of White Mountain peaks from Poon Hill. After sunrise, you will return to our camp or Lodge and time for breakfast. Ghorepani means “horse water”. From Ghorepani the trail climbs south on muddy path through the deep forests. It finally emerges on a grassy knoil which offers good mountain views, is including views of Machhapuchhare (not visible from Grohrepani pass), and a panorama all the way south to the plains of India. It is similar views from Poon Hill. Climbing along the ridge in pine and rhododendron forests to a top 3030 meters then descend to at a second pass also called Deurali, at 2960 meters.
The trails a ridge hides the mountains as makes a steep, sometimes treacherous, descent on a narrow path alongside the stream, as the descent continues. The stream has some clear pools alongside the trail and finally becomes a series waterfalls over a jumble of boulders. The steep descent becomes more gentle way to reaches Banthanti and stop for Lunch.
From Banthanti, the trail follow the stream down to a bridge where the trails start climbing, leaving the moist high mountain forests and entering a field of cane, making some ups and downs past to a vantage point “Tadapani” (2540 meters) that offers a brief view of the mountains. Tadapani means “far water”. The village water supply is a long distance, it takes porters more than an 20 Min to fetch a load of water.

Day 07 Tadapani – Chhomrung
Trek from Tadapani, the trails Dropping down rhododendron, oak forests, one the way offers good views of white mountains trails to Chhomrung. It takes 4 hours trek. Our lunch and dinner spot in Chhomrung. Chhomrung is a Gurung Village has evolved into two separate parts. This is highest permanent settlement in the valley. There is a tremendous view of Annapurna South, which seems to tower above the village, and there are good views of Machhapuchhare (Machha “fish” and puchhare “tail”) across the valley.

Day 08 Chhomrung–Himalaya
Trek from Chhomrung the trail descends on a stone staircase and cross the Chhomrungkhola. Climbing high above the ModiKhola on its west banks, the trails passes through forest of bamboo, rhododendron and oak. Climbing further on a rocky trail you reach at Sinuwa, 2250 meters. The trails continues rhododendrons forest, climb Kuldi. From Kuldi, the trails descends a long steep stone staircase into deep bamboo and rhododendron forests, then short distance on a muddy trail to Bamboo and time for Lunch. From Bamboo the trail climbs steeply through stands of bamboo, occasionally dropping slightly to cross the tributary streams, its take approximately 2 and a 1/2 hrs trek to Himalaya.

Day 09 Himalaya – Annapurna Base Camp
Trek from Himalaya the trail is muddy and high above the river, but is no problem, for those who suffer vertigo, because thick stands of bamboo block the view of the rushing river and waterfall.

Day 10 Annapurna Base Camp -Bamboo
Being of the early morning wake up and climb to view point spot where you can see sunrise over the mountains. You’ll also visit near by ABC. The track remains on the west bank of the Modi, now flowing through a more open valley and eventually emerges into the Sanctuary. Straight ahead is the high lateral moraine. After the sunrise trip, return to our camp and time for breakfast. After breakfast you’ll return same way to Bamboo.

Day 11 Bamboo – Chhomrung
From Bamboo, the trail short distance is muddy, then descends a long steep stone staircase in to uphill through the Bamboo, the bamboo and rhododendrons forest to Kuldi, 2300 meters. The trail continue in rhododendrons forests down to Sinuwa, 2250 meters. Your lunch spot in Sinuwa. After lunch trek to Chhomrung. From Sinuwa the trail is downhill till ModiKhola. After passes the river, the trail climb steep way approx 1 hour Chhomrung.

Day 12 Chomrung – Landrung
From Chhomrung the trail follow the down hill to Hot Spring through the village, terraced fields. The trails is very easy after Hot Spring till Nayapul where we have lunch. After lunch we cross the New Bridge and climb to Landrung.

Day 13 Langdrung – Phedi – Pokhara, 6 hours
From Langdrung we trek all the way to Phedi. The trail passes through the village of Tolka with fantastic views of Annapurna South and Huinchuli and of the surrounding landscapes. The rhododendron forests are lush and offer a protective canopy for the smaller delicate flora, such as primal and Danphe. As the village is also relatively near the only road that linked to Pokhara, the villagers are less inhibited and more conscious of tourists. We will take the final two-hour hike back to Phedi. This is where the hills meet the road and where our vehicle will be awaiting to bring us back to Pokhara. From Phedi we drive to Pokhara about 30 minutes.

Day 14 Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu (1,300 m)
Morning we will drive by regular tourist bus through the scenic countryside and en route will stop for breakfast & lunch. It takes 7 hours back to Kathmandu. On arrival at Kathmandu guide will transfer to the hotel and rest of the day relax or explore the surrounding areas.

Day 15 Kathmandu
This pleasant day you may have full day at leisure at your own or can be extends your extra trip with us on additional cost or time to explore the Thamel area for last day shopping and evening Matterhorn Treks & Expedition will take you for farewell dinner.

Day 16 Departure from Kathmandu
Matterhorn Treks & Expedition will transferred to the International Airport for your departure flight to your on wards destination.

Día 1: Arribo a Katmandú (1.300 mts)
Llegada al Aeropuerto Internacional Tribhuvan de Katmandú donde un representante de Matterhorn le llevará a su hotel. En este lugar se hará una breve descripción sobre su viaje. El resto del día es libre.

Día 2: Katmandú y sus atractivos
Visita a algunos de los principales atractivos que forman parte de los Sitios Patrimonio de la Humanidad de Katmandú como son: Dubar Square, el templo sagrado hinduista de Pashupati Nath, el famoso Monkey Temple (Swayambhu Nath) y el santuario budista de Bouddha Nath.

Día 3: Katmandú – Pokhara
Temprano en la mañana y después del desayuno, se dirigen al aeropuerto local para volar a Pokhara. Después de 25 minutos de vuelo con espectaculares vistas de los Himalaya se arriba a Pokhara donde se podrá disfrutar un ambiente relajado junto al lago Phewa.

Día 4: Pokhara – Tirkhedhunga (1.491 mts)
Después de desayuno se conduce por aproximadamente una hora hasta Nayapul, desde donde parte el trek. Tras una caminata de aproximadamente 20 minutos hasta Birethanti, un importante y prospero pueblo, se sigue por la calle principal de Birethanti a través de bosques de bambú, una importante cascada y una poza de natación. Más allá de tierras de pastoreo utiluzadas por caravanas de ponies, el camino llega a Sudami donde se para a almorzar. Tras el almuerzo el camino sube constantemente por el costado del valle, alcanzado Hile a 1.495 metros. Siguiendo el camino varios caseríos ofrecen posibilidades de camping, pero si el objetivo para el próximo día es Ghorepani es mejor llegar a Thirkhedhunga

Día 5: Tirkhedhunga – Ghorepani (2.855 mts)
Desde Tirkhedhunga se cruza el rio a través de un puente en suspensión. Luego el camino asciende por una escalera de piedra hasta la villa Margar de Ulleri a 2.070 metros. Luego el camino cruza dos cristalinos ríos antes de hacer una corta ascensión a Nangethanti donde se para a almorzar. Desde Nangethani después de un camino es ascenso por aproximadamente una hora se llega finalmente a Ghorepani.

Día 6: Ghorepani – Poon Hill – Tadapani
A las 5 de la mañana parte el día para iniciar el viaje de ascenso a Poon Hill (3.195 mts) que dura unos 45 minutos. Desde Poon Hill se pueden apreciar las mejores vistas de las cumbres del Himalaya lo que junto al amanecer otorga una experiencia inigualable. Tras el amanecer se vuelve a Ghorepani para desayunar. Luego se retoma el trek que asciende hacia el sur por un camino fangoso a través de frondosos bosques hasta alcanzar la altura de 3.030 metros para luego descender a un segundo paso llamado Deurali a 2.960 mts.
El sendero luego desciende en un estrecho paso junto al rio, donde se encuentras algunas piscinas cristalinas que luego dan paso a cascadas. El sendero en descenso ahora es un más suave camino hasta llegar a Banthanti donde se almuerza.
Desde Banthanti, el sendero sigue rio abajo hasta un puente donde el sendero empieza a subir abandonando el humedo bosque de alta montaña y entrando en campos de caña, haciendo algunas subidas y bajadas hasta el mirador Tadapani (2.540 mts).

Día 7: Tadapani – Chhomrung
El sendero se interna por bosques de robles y rododendros por unas 4 horas hasta llegar a Chhomrung, donde tendrá lugar el almuerzo y la cena.
Chhomrung es una villa Gurung , siendo el más alto asentamiento humano en el valle. Desde aquí se tiene una vista espectacular del Annapurna Sur, el cual parece una torre por encima de la villa. También hay buenas vistas del Machhapuchhare a través del valle.

Día 8: Chhomriung – Himalaya
El sendero desde Chhomriung desciende por una escalera de piedra y cruza el rio Chhomrung.
Luego el sendero asciende sobre el rio Modi en su orilla oeste, pasando por bosques de bambú, robles y rododendros. Continuando el ascenso sobre un sendero rocoso se alcanza Sinuwa a 2.250 mts. El sendero continúa ascendiendo por bosques de rododendros para llegar a Kuldi. Desee Kuldi el sendero desciende por una escalera de piedras hasta internarse nuevamente en frondosos bosques de roble y rododendros, para luego de una corta distancia sobre un sendero fangoso arribar a Bamboo a tiempo para almorzar. Desde Bamboo el sendero sube abruptamente a través de bosques de bambú, tomando aproximadamente 2.5 horas llegar a Himalaya.

Día 9: Himalaya – Annapurna Base Camp
El trek desde Himalaya se realiza por un sendero fangoso y que va muy por arriba del cañón por donde corre el rio.

Día 10: Annapurna Base Camp – Bamboo
Muy temprano en la mañana se asciende al mirador donde se ve el amanecer sobre las montañas. Luego se visita el ABC.
El sendero se mantiene sobre la orilla oeste del rio Modi, el cual ahora corre a través de un valle más abierto emergiendo al interior del Santuario.
Después de el trek de amanecida se vuelve al campamento base para desayunar y luego retornar por el camino ya realizado a Bamboo.

Día 11: Bamboo – Chhomrung
Desde Bamboo, el sendero por una corta distancia es fangoso para luego descender por una escalera de piedra para internasrse por bosques de bambú y rododendros para llegar a Kuldi a 2.300 metros. El sendero continua en descenso hasta Sinuwa a 2250 metros. En este lugar se almuerza para seguir luego descendiendo hasta cruzar el rio Modi donde el camino vuelve a ascender por aproximadamente una hora hasta Chhomrung.

Día 12: Chhomrung – Landrung
Desde Chhomrung el sendero sigue en descenso a través de villas y campos de terrazas hasta llegar a una fuente termal. Tras esto el sendero es muy fácil hasta llegar a Nayapul donde se almuerza. Luego de almorzar se cruza el Puente Nuevo y se asciende hasta Landrung.

Día 13: Landrung -Phedi – Pokhara
Desde Landrung el sendero pasa a través de la villa de Tolka con fantásticas vistas del Annapurna Sur y el Huinchuli. Luego se toman las últimas 2 horas de caminata hasta Phedi, donde un vehículo estará esperando para transportar a los pasajeros a Pokhara.

Día 14: Pokhara – Katmandú
Por la mañana se realiza un viaje de 7 horas en bus regular con destino a Katmandú. En la ruta se realizan detenciones para desayunar y almorzar. Arribando a Katmandú cada uno de los pasajeros es dirigido a sus respectivos hoteles.

Día 15: Katmandú
Día de relajo para explorar Thamel y realizar las últimas actividades. Por la tarde Matterhorn Treks & Expeditions nos llevará a una cena de despedida.

Día 16: Partida desde Katmandú
Matterhorn Treks & Expeditions transporta cada pasajero al Aeropuerto Internacional para la toma de los respectivos vuelos que lo llevarán a su destinación.
