Cho Oyu, the world’s sixth highest mountain at 8,201 meters, lies on the Nepal / Tibet border. Interested in seeing how you do above 8000 meters? There is no better testing ground, ease of access and ease of route means that you can save your energy for the climbing. The North West Face, now considered the normal route, is fairly straight forward, with only a couple hundred meters requiring fixed rope. The success rate on Cho Oyu is higher than any other 8000 meter peak, don’t be fooled though; it is still hard – requiring three camps, including one at 7500 meters. Camp one can usually be reached without climbing on snow. Advanced base camp offers a terrific view over the Nangpa La to Nepal and the Khumbu valley.
Mt. Cho Oyu 8201m is the most popular 8000 meter peak for climbing in Nepal & Tibet. Cho Oyu expedition would be the best choice for the mountaineers who want to stand on the summit of 8000 meter peak due to its straight forward climbing with minimal objective danger and less technically demanding. Climbing on Cho Oyu has the higher rate of success than any other 8000 meter peaks in Nepal & Tibet. We arrange both the logistic support to ABC and fully guided climbing on Cho Oyu mountaineering. A short sightseeing tour can be arranged before proceeding to the climbing on Cho Oyu.
From Cho Oyu base camp, we trek to the advance base camp at 5,700m. We climb through steep moraines to a shoulder at 6,400m where cam I is set up. From here we climb up through the ridge and fix rope to climb a 50m high serac barrier split by a ramp to set up the Cho oyu camp II at about 7,000m. Climbing Cho Oyu becomes easier and places our Cho Oyu camp III at 7,500m on the North West face. Cho Oyu summit is a long way at the far end with huge snow fields.

Arrival in Kathmandu Tribhuvan International Airport, a representative from Matterhorn Treks & Expedition will transfer to your hotel, We will brief about your trip activities. You’ll have rest of the day at leisure.

Day 02 Kathmandu Sightseeing
Sightseeing in Some of landmarks that are the World Heritage Sites of Kathmandu Durbar Square, the sacred Hindu temple of (Pashupati Nath), the famous ‘Monkey Temple’ (Swayambhu Nath) and Buddhists shrine (Bouddha Nath). You can also make your last minute buying of personal items and preparation for the next day.

Day 03 Preparation day in Kathmandu for Cho Oyu Expedition

Day 04 Drive from Kathmandu to Zhangmu
7500 feet, across the Chinese border in Tibet.The border town of Kodari is reached in about 4 to 5 hours. We’ll continue on to Zhangmu where we pass through Chinese immigration.
Day 05 Drive from Zhangmu to Nyalam, O/N Lodge.
This drive is a short day so we arrive at Nyalam in the early afternoon. The road winds along steep mountain slopes and is quite impressive. As we travel further to the north the land becomes increasingly drier.
Day 06 Rest day at Nyalam for acclimatization
From our walk we’ll get good views of the peaks of the Langtang Himal and Shishapangma.
Day 07 Drive to Tingri. O/N Lodge
We cross the stony Lalung Leh Pass at 16,500 feet. If it is clear we can see great views of the peaks to the south and about a little later our first views of Everest and Cho Oyu.
Day 08 Rest day at Tingri for acclimatization
Day 09 Drive to Cho Oyu Base Camp
After the short drive of only about 2 hours, we will reach the Cho Oyu Base camp. We will have time to relax, and enjoy the views. This camp is also known as the Chinese Base Camp.
Day 10 Acclimatization Cho Oyu Base Camp

Day 13 Trek to Advanced Base Camp
We trek along the side of the Gyabrag Glacier, crossing its huge moraine to reach ABC. Here we have great views of the route on Cho Oyu and the Nepalese peaks behind the Nangpa La.
Day 14 Acclimatization Advance Base Camp
Day 15 – Day 36 Climbing Period
Day 37 Return to Advance Base Camp
Day 38 Return to Base Camp
Day 39 Cleaning up Base Camp
Day 40 Drive back to Zhangmu
Day 41 Drive back to Kathmandu

Day 44 Departure from Kathmandu
Matterhorn treks & Expedition will transferred to the International Airport your departure flight to your on wards destination.
Día 1: Arribo a Katmandú
Llegada al Aeropuerto Internacional Tribhuvan de Katmandú donde un representante de Matterhorn le llevará a su hotel. En este lugar se hará una breve descripción sobre su viaje. El resto del día es libre.
Día 2: Atractivos de Katmandú
Visita a algunos de los principales atractivos que forman parte de los Sitios Patrimonio de la Humanidad de Katmandú como son: Dubar Square, el templo sagrado hinduista de Pashupati Nath, el famoso Monkey Temple (Swayambhu Nath) y el santuario budista de Bouddha Nath.
Día 3: Katmandú. Día de preparación para la expedición
Dia4: Katmandú – Zhangmu
Se conduce por unas 4 a 5 horas hasta alcanzar el pueblo de Kodari. Luego se continúa hasta Zhangmu donde se pasa por la inmigración china.
Día 5: Zhangmu – Nyalam
Este día las distancias son cortas arribando a Nyalam temprano por la tarde. El camino transcurre entre empinadas laderas de montaña bastante impresionantes. En la medida que se sigue hacia el norte, el paisaje se torna cada vez más seco.
Día 6: Día de descanso y aclimatación en Nyalam
Día 7: Nyalam – Tingri
Se cuza el rocoso Lalung Leh Pass a 5.020 metros aproximadamente. Si el día está claro, se pueden tener vistas grandiosas de varias cimas de montañas hacia el sur.
Día 8: Día de descanso y aclimatación en Tingri
Día 9: Tingri – Cho Oyu Base Camp
Luego de una corta conducción de alrededor de 2 horas se llega a Cho Oyu Base Camp. En el lugar se tendrá tiempo para el relajo y para contemplar las vistas. El lugar también es conocido como Chinese Base Camp.
Día 10 – 12: Aclimatación Cho Oyu Base Camp
Día 13: Cho Oyu Base Camp – ABC
El sendero va por un costado del Glaciar Gyabrag y cruzando su enorme morrena se llega al ABC. Aquí se tendrá una gran vista de la ruta del Cho Oyu y las cimas nepalíes detrás del Nangpa La.
Día 14: Aclimatación en el ABC
Día 15 – 36: Período de escalada
Día 37: Retorno ABC
Día 38: Retorno al Cho Oyu Base Camp
Día 39: Limpieza del Cho Oyu Base Camp
